		<description>Have you looked into Prototype? It&#039;s a bit slow on IE (relative to other DOM stuff), but it&#039;s got some brilliant shorthand methods for just about everything, is compatible with just about everything, and is all-around damn handy.

The main add-on for widget-type stuff, Scriptaculous, is also mega sweet.

They may not be viable under licenses and stuff, though. Idunno.</description>
