[...] Wufoo, A/B Testing and why being small can help - "Incidentally, I think this is a good demonstration of how Rails, crafty application of cheap software, and the related bag of tricks let you be more nimble than you would be if you were e.g. running on enterprise Java. I’ve implemented surveys for the universities who are clients of my day job, and surveys of roughly comparable complexity typically require planning meetings so that we can add them to the schedule and eventually detail an engineer or two to get them started. There’s a place for that in the world, don’t get me wrong, but I’m already collecting data." [...]

Here's a survey that rebuts your "no one cares about privacy" aside: Americans Reject Tailored Advertising. In short, people don't realize how much they're tracked, think they have more legal protections than they do, and don't like the idea at all.

Great to see such detailed step by step guides for this kind of stuff. Will be looking at Wufoo for surveys in near future. I had been using google docs.

http://survey.io/ is another great option. I've used it several times now with great success. The last time I used it, I borrowed the questions (the real secret sauce) and used them in the Google Spreadsheet survey tool as google spreadsheet can embed surveys in emails. I had a significantly better response rate when I embedded the survey vs. sending a link that people had to click through.

I operate several websites (forums) and love the idea of www.wufoo.com. The ability to use it for questions, polls, etc... is great!! I was just reading about them in PC this morning. It sounds good!!

Vegas Don, in ...guess where...:)

I liked this write-up and the detailed explanation and am looking forward to reading the conclusion!
I do think you are wrong to say that the survey is totally anonymous when in fact it isn't though. You can say that "users" don't care about privacy, but you do not know that about your particular user who is filling out the survey. I really hate it when companies do that. I am happy to give you my details for a simple survey like this, but don't tell me it is totally anonymous when in fact it isn't. Why mention anonymity at all for such a simple survey? Why lie to your customers for something small like this?

I too dont get why I need Wufoo.

Perhapse I am missing something but, is it really that hard/time consuming for you to manually create the form you sampled in the screenshot?

I've never used Wufoo before, would you strongly recommend it over google doc's. And if so, what are the major differentiating factors for you?
